Workplace, Community and Environment

Fun Facts about Marcia: She enjoys watching sports (especially baseball), the beach, traveling, yoga and spending quality time with her family and friends.

Marcia A. Harris first joined AFP in 2006 and is currently the Senior Treasury and Accounting Manager at the American Institute of Physics Inc. (AIP). Working within the finance trade for over 20 years is a clear example of her passion for the industry. However, Marcia also has a strong desire to help others in need, which is what attracted her to AFP Aware.

At the AFP Annual Conference in Los Angeles, an AFP Aware community service project involving feeding the homeless, completely transformed the way Marcia viewed the impact we all could have on lives of others by simply donating our time.

We’re hoping that you’re able to dedicate two hours of your conference agenda to volunteer with Marcia at the AFP Aware Community Service Projects sponsored by BBVA Compass in San Diego!

There are some fun projects in store this year! Scroll down to register and learn more about the charities AFP is partnering with in California.

Sponsored by BBVA Compass

These projects are a great way for the AFP community to give back to the local San Diego area. Each year AFP hosts two community service projects with one taking place on-site at the convention center and the other taking place off-site in the local area. Last year groups packed 1,300 hygiene kits and sorted over 11,000 lbs of sweet potatoes. This year AFP will continue the community service tradition with two great events. See the event descriptions below and be sure to register for these events as they will fill up.
